This November, RDHs in Districts 4, 7 and 8 will participate in elections to Council. CDHO’s Council, similar to a board of directors, makes policy decisions to regulate the profession, and other decisions in the public’s interest.
In September, CDHO will put out a call for nominations in these Districts, asking RDHs to put their name forward to stand for election. If you primarily practise in one of these districts (or reside there, if not practising), please consider putting your name forward for an exciting opportunity to participate in the regulation of your profession!
District 4: The regional municipalities of York and Metropolitan Toronto (Two positions)
District 7: The territorial districts of Algoma, Cochrane, Manitoulin, Muskoka, Nipissing, Parry Sound, Sudbury and Timiskaming (One position)
District 8: The territorial districts of Rainy River, Thunder Bay and Kenora (One position)
If elected, you will serve a three-year term starting in January 2025 and ending in December 2027. While elected by your peers, once on Council, Council acts in the public’s interest. You will attend four, two-day meetings per year, which can be virtual or in-person (in Toronto). You will also be asked to sit on at least one committee and may have the opportunity to sit on other committees or working groups. CDHO pays a per diem for attending Council and committee meetings and covers any travel and accommodation expenses if attending in-person meetings.
If you’re an RDH in one of these districts, keep an eye on your inbox this September for more information on how to submit a nomination! The nomination form is due by October 21, 2024, and the election will take place on November 20, 2024.
