Voice of the Patient Dashboard Available

In 2022, CDHO engaged a third-party research company to conduct a Voice of the Patient survey. The survey is now administered yearly in four languages – English, French, Mandarin and Punjabi – with 2,000 patients participating. The survey asks about their experiences with dental hygiene practice and barriers to accessing care. CDHO uses this data to improve resources for RDHs and to develop more patient-focused information. Ask the Advisors: Orthodontic Procedures

RDHs can perform orthodontic procedures, so long as they have a client-specific order from a dentist. CDHO considers the dentist’s orthodontic treatment plan as evidence of the client-specific order when dealing with orthodontic procedures. If an orthodontic procedure is not in the treatment plan, a client-specific order must be obtained from the dentist before the treatment is provided. What Happens in a Peer Circle?

Peer Circles are group discussions of 8 – 10 RDHs led by an RDH facilitator. The groups discuss scenarios that RDHs may face in practice, and they find ways to address the scenario together. Case scenarios are written and reviewed by RDHs from across Ontario, working in diverse areas of practice and with different levels of experience.
