Hello everyone! I hope 2025 has started off well for you!

I’m pleased to announce that we’ve extended the deadline to complete the NVision course, The Path: Your Journey Through Indigenous Canada. As part of our commitment to advancing Reconciliation efforts, CDHO provides all RDHs with free access to this course. The Path provides a valuable opportunity to learn more about the history and contemporary realities of Canada’s First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people. We’ve received a lot of positive feedback from RDHs who’ve already completed it, including how they wish these subjects had been taught more broadly. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to complete this course. Completion definitely counts towards your QA requirements. You can access The Path via the Self-Service Portal.

This year marks the formal start of Peer Circles as a fourth Path option for those individuals who volunteered for the 2025 assessment. The QA Team is busy (but excited!) as they work to schedule the more than 600 RDHs who chose to participate in Path 4 this year. We couldn’t be happier with the enthusiastic response to this initiative, and we can’t wait for more RDHs to experience Peer Circles. In this edition of The De-Brief, we’ve provided an overview of what else to expect from the QA Program in 2025, including the availability of more optional Peer Circles.

CDHO’s Council members have also been busy! At their March meeting, Council will be considering the final draft of the College’s strategic plan for 2025 – 2027, which will guide the College’s work over the next three years. Once the plan is finalized, it will be posted on our website, and we will update you on our progress. Exciting times ahead!

Well, 2025 has certainly started in an interesting way! I’m looking forward to this coming year, focusing on those things that we have control over; supporting the public’s interest in access to safe, competent care; and continuing to engage and collaborate with the amazing members of the Dental Hygiene profession. My thanks to all RDHs for their continued support of the health of the people of Ontario and the College’s work. As always, we welcome your feedback and questions, so please get in touch!
