Registrar’s message

Happy Oral Health Month! We’re about to celebrate National Dental Hygienists Week, and I want to thank Registered Dental Hygienists for their significant contributions to oral health care and the overall health of Ontarians.

I’m pleased to share that Council recently approved its Strategic Plan for 2025 – 2027. This plan will help guide the College’s efforts over the next three years. It focuses on four goals:

  1. Enhancing collaboration with the public, profession and system partners.
  2. Supporting professionalism, quality care and continuous learning among RDHs.
  3. Advancing commitments to equity and inclusion.
  4. Modernizing governance.

This plan reflects the College’s ongoing commitment to public protection, regulatory excellence and supporting RDHs in their professional responsibilities. We’re excited to get working on several initiatives to make these goals a reality, and we’ll keep you posted on our progress. Read the full strategic plan on our website.

Another exciting update – Path 4 Peer Circles for RDHs who volunteered for assessment began on March 17. Of the 637 RDHs who signed up for Path 4, 248 will participate in the spring cohort, with the remaining RDHs set to participate in the fall. We are so excited to see Peer Circles up and running as part of the assessment process, and we deeply appreciate the enthusiasm and engagement of all those involved! As mentioned in the February edition of The De-Brief, we continue to plan more optional Peer Circles for RDHs who want to see what the excitement is all about – Stay tuned!

Finally, we launched the new Self-Service Portal and Public Register in early March. I know there was a hiccup on launch day where we had to take down the Portal, making it difficult for RDHs to create their new passwords. As frustrating as this can be, the migration of our database and processes to a new platform was absolutely essential as we position the College for the future, and we appreciate your patience with this process. As a reminder, please log in to the new Self-Service Portal to create your new password so that you can access your tax receipt and courses like The Path. You should have received an email with detailed instructions, but if you need any help, please contact the Registration Team at registration@cdho.org or give us a call at 1-800-268-2346 (press 1).

Wishing you all a wonderful spring! Thanks again for your commitment to the health of the people of Ontario.
