INFORMATION FOR ONTARIO RESIDENTS
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) was created to help ease financial barriers to accessing oral health care for eligible Canadian residents.
To qualify for the CDCP, you must meet all the criteria below:
- No access to dental insurance
- have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000
- be a Canadian resident for tax purposes and
- have filed your tax return in the previous year
Eligible Canadians will receive a letter in the mail inviting them to enroll according to the schedule below. It is expected that those enrolled in the CDCP can start seeing an oral health provider in May 2024. Learn more about which services are covered and co-payments.

INFORMATION FOR RDHs
Participate as a CDCP Provider
RDHs can now participate in the CDCP as providers by confirming directly with Sun Life, who is administering the program on the Government of Canada’s behalf. Participation in the CDCP is voluntary, but CDHO encourages RDHs to participate in this important initiative that will have a significant impact on millions of Canadians.
