As part of its commitment to continuous improvement and strong attention to the public interest, CDHO’s Council launched a third-party review of its processes, systems and conduct at its September 2023 meeting. This important initiative will provide Council with an opportunity to gain an external, expert viewpoint of its governance processes. This review will help identify areas in which the organization is doing well and those areas where opportunities for improvement exist.

The governance review will be led by Harry Cayton and Deanna Williams, two internationally renowned experts in governance effectiveness. The review will include interviews with Council and committee members and CDHO’s senior staff. The review will also examine Canadian and international trends in regulatory governance modernization. Council will receive a report at its March 2024 meeting, following which an implementation plan for any recommendations will be developed.
