Hello everyone. Happy spring and happy Oral Health Month! I want to extend my thanks to Registered Dental Hygienists for their contributions to oral health care. Your efforts play a significant role in improving the overall health of Ontarians, and it’s an honour to celebrate your work this month and throughout the year!
In March we announced the launch of optional Peer Circles in five cities across Ontario. We received such an enthusiastic response, and spots in most cities filled up within 48 hours! It shows a strong commitment to professionalism and an interest in a more collaborative approach to QA. If you couldn’t register, please don’t worry. The optional Peer Circles in April and May are the first of many more we plan to offer. As soon as we arrange these, we will provide you with more information.
We also announced the introduction of Peer Circles as a new, fourth option for RDHs to meet their QA requirements if selected for assessment. We’ve re-capped what’s involved with this new option here. As a reminder, in June we’ll ask for volunteers to participate in the 2025 assessment. In addition to these exciting College initiatives, we continue to support efforts that improve access to oral health care. To that end, we encourage RDHs to participate as providers in the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). This is an important step in ensuring that more Canadians have access to essential oral health care services. Your participation can make a significant difference for many Ontarians who currently don’t have access to oral health care. Learn more about enrolling with Sun Life.
There is so much to look forward to as we – in partnership with RDHs – continue to modernize the way we regulate in the public’s interest. My thanks again to RDHs for their continued support and engagement as we roll out these exciting initiatives!
